Catharina Elisabeth née Textor (1731-1808) and
Johann Caspar (1710-1782), a lawyer.
At the urging of his father he began studying law in Leipzig in 1765
from 1771 onwards he worked as a lawyer
1772 he fell unhappily in love with the engaged Charlotte Buff, "Lotte": the "sufferings of the young Werther" arise en in only four weeks
1775 engagement with Anna Elisabeth Schönemann, soon after separation
1776 Goethe becomes minister in Weimar
1786 - 1788 First trip to Italy
Relationship with Christiane Vulpius, with whom he had several children
1790 second trip to Italy
1806 marriage to Christiane Vulpius
1815 love for Marianne, wife of his friend von Willemer
deceased 22nd birthday. March 1832 in Weimar
